Our Purpose Statement:  “The purpose of our church is to be the presence of Christ in our community and the world through Worship, Ministry, Evangelism, Fellowship and Discipleship.”

 

First Baptist Church of Rio Grande City is the presence of Christ in our community by:

 

To Our World

·         Through our giving to the Co-operative program and designated mission offerings

·         House and co-ordinate mission groups working in Mexico

 

To The Valley

·         Through our giving to the Rio Grande Valley Baptist Association (RGVBA)

·         Pastor active in service to the ministry of RGVBA

 

To Our Community

·         Revival Services with lunch time meetings

·         Cold Weather and High Water Shelter in coordination with RGC Fire Department

·         Christmas gift distribution to needy families

·         Articles of encouragement in local newspaper

·         Police and Fire Department ministries and Bible Supply

·         Community Services with local churches

·         Ministry to and with local civic groups

·         Room to Room ministry at hospital and nursing home

·         2/month ministry time at Retama Nursing Home

·         Provide Bibles to hospital chapel

·         House and coordinate mission groups working in Starr County

·         Pastor works with local government sharing experience, skills and professional licenses

·         40 Days of Purpose Bible Study with over 100 registered students

·         40 Days of Community Bible Study coming in April

·         Community Bible Studies

·         Bible and Tract distribution ministry

·         Touch Point Ministry

·         Music Team Ministry

·         Participate in vigil for the victims of violent crime

·         Pastor available to community for spiritual guidance

To our schools

·         Meet with and sponsor “One Way” Bible club at RHS

·         Meet with and sponsor “Fellowship of Christian Athletes” at RHS

·         Available to RGCCISD campuses for crisis and grief guidance

 

To our youth

·         Booth and outreach during Starr County Youth Fair

·         Coordinate and serve “Saturday Night Live” youth service

·         Youth events during revivals and other times

·         Youth VBS

·         Middle School Girls ministry

·         Youth Band Ministry

 

To Our Children

·         Vacation Bible School (June 12 – 16 this year w/FBC Highlands, TX)

·         Support and Outreach at Children’s Play Day 

·         Children’s Time during worship service once per month

 

In our future we will:

·         Go on mission trips to serve other areas

·         Develop a Ministry Associate ministry in our church

·         Provide conferences to community focused on marriage, parenting, youth issues, other topics

·         Develop and Implement a regular children’s ministry time (3-C, Awana, or other)

·         Develop and Implement a regular youth ministry time  ***DONE – Saturday Night Live

·         Seek out opportunities to be the Presence of Christ in our community to glorify God

·         Seek opportunities to partner with other churches to minister to our community, share resources and to encourage the entire Body of Christ

·         Seek to develop and operate a community ministry and guidance center in Rio Grande City

·         Seek to partner with other community service organizations (Community Action, Border Initiatives, UTPA, UT, TAMU, STCADA, SCAN,  etc) to minister to our community with them

·         Go to all those God leads us to and be His Hands reaching, His Heart Loving and His Body serving.

·         Develop long term vision for ministries and facilities such as a Christian school, daycare or shelter

·         Upgrade sanctuary sound and audio system ***DONE!!!

·         Purchase and operate a low power FM station
