Becoming a World Class Christian

“World Class” – the term brings to mind images of Olympic Gymnasts, runners and other competitors. Maybe this is a very good way to see ourselves under God’s Leadership. In Him, we are the best there is!
There is no one better to share the message of how He loves me than me! His Message of grace and mercy cannot be shared with a hurting world by anyone better than one of His children. I have been approved and commissioned by the King of kings and Lord of lords – I am that man.
I must understand this view in the light of the Cross. I am only ‘World Class” because God almighty has made me this way; without Him I am a world class failure. I am only at my best when my best is focused on Him.
I often flinch when I hear somebody, or myself, talk about how many people we won to Jesus, or how necessary a program or cooperation or special offering is in winning souls, All we can do falls very short, we are only the messenger – JESUS IS THE MESSAGE! We carry – He delivers.
I must learn to focus more on the most important – GOD and less on the least important – me.
On the Texas-Mexico border it is easy to think internationally but more difficult to think globally. Our mindset can easily become one that believes that missions are something that other people come to us to do. In this thinking we are in error.
I am not sure how to change this mindset, but the hard truth is that very few Valley people ever go on a mission trip, even to Mexico, which is only a rivers width away.
God, deliver us from our selfish and self-centered attitudes, break us of ourselves and give us a vision for Mexico and the World.
It is a simple thing to say, :”I will think externally,” but very hard to actually do. We are so busy and caught up in what we must do now, or what we should have already done or the issues of tomorrow that we leave little time to ponder eternity. But eternity is where the value is and the purpose for our mission is.
We must purpose today that we are sick and tired of seeing our friends and family dying today and spending eternity without God in hades. Their eternity is what is at stake here, not mine. My eternity is sealed by the Blood of the Lamb, theirs is still open until they accept Christ or die without Him, yet, we remain silent, hid away behind locked gates, doors and hearts – leaving our mission unfulfilled and sending people to hell.
How will they know if I don’t tell them? How can I reach one more for Jesus?
If God has called me to do this then it is important enough for me to do; without fear, doubt or hesitation. His work is valuable and worthy of our completion.
No more excuses
No more wasted time
Faith marked by obedience.
This wil make God smile. I want to make God smile.
