Are you sitting or seeking?

Luke 2:25 - 35

Why is there no revival in our churches today? Because 98% of the body of Christ is sitting instead of seeking

 Simeon was:

  1. A Believer (Christ's Blood will not be wasted on unbelief
  2. Spirit Filled
  3. Spirit Fed (Not man/self fed - Man can study the Word - only the Holy Spirit can make it real)
  4. Spirit Led
  5. Not disappointed

Simeon knew what he was looking for - Simeon was searching for Jesus.

Simeon knew the scriptures, he had studied - but he knew that there was a time to put the books down and get out into the field. He could not stay at home in his study while Jesus was outside the 4 walls.

 --> Matthew 13:44 - 52

Why should we seek God?

Jesus is the more valuable than anything in His creation. Don't let the things of this world stop you from seeking the kingdom.

 1. No Cause greater than Christ! Christ Alone

Not programs, Not a certain type of music, Not being a Deacon..Christ Alone

I do not believe that the church needs a "Great Awakening"....I think that the church today needs a rude awakening. Saul was trudging along in all his religious glory - fulfilling all that his church training had taught him and doing all that his "pastor" and "church leaders" said...then WHAM - he got a RUDE AWAKENING! Maybe this applies to us today?

2. No cure outside the Cross.

Everything must go through the Cross of Jesus Christ. I must die to it - so that it can be His. Romans teaches us that if we believe in His atoning work at the cross and in His resurrection that we take part in His death and therefore death has no power over us. The wrath of sin is removed and we are free from it's bondage.

I am a product of the Cross of Christ. Not my upbringing, my surroundings or my friends. I cannot blame anyone or anything else for my condition - I am responsible for my sins and the Cross holds the cure.

3. No Source of strength other than the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:8

4. Community stronger than the church

Once a church body grasps these simple principles and begins knowing and doing the will of God, forgetting themselves and their own opinions - then, and only then will we have a church that the gates of hell cannot prevail against.

Simion grabbed hold of Jesus and praised God. Simeon was a believer that had the promise that he would not see death before he saw Jesus. Non-Believers do not have this promise.

Will you see death before you see Jesus?
