Psalm 70:1

David’s 9-1-1 Call

Psalm 70:1 “Please, God, rescue me! Come quickly, LORD, and help me.”

Have you ever had to call 9-1-1? I have; and though it was a very scary time I took comfort in knowing help was just 3 numbers away.

Do you call 9-1-1 because you:

· Think there may be someone there to answer your call for help?

· Hope that when they answer you they will be able to help you?

Or do you call 9-1-1 because you KNOW that a trained person is available, able and willing to help you? 24/7

In psalm 70:1 David knows beyond any shadow of any doubt that God is willing and able to save Him.

He knew that his 9-1-1 call would be heard by God and that help was on its way.

David did not simply hope, think or wish God was around and available to help him; HE KNEW that God would hear him, is more than able to save him and is always willing to come to his rescue.

In our times of crisis and emergencies we can:

• Rely on our own strength
• Rely on our own understanding
• Surround ourselves with others who are relying on their own strength and understanding
• Hope the problem will go away if we ignore it

OR

We can cry out to God in faith and trust that our 9-1-1 calls to the King of kings and Lord of lords will always be answered.
