There is much discussion today about “The Da Vinci Code” book and movie.

The only surprising thing to me is that there is this much uproar in the Christian community about it.

These subtle or blatant attacks on Christianity are nothing new. People have attacked the divinity of Jesus Christ ever since the beginning.

Psalm 78:21-22 “Yes, his anger rose against Israel, for they did not believe God or trust him to care for them.” NLT

2 John 7 “Many deceivers have gone out into the world. They do not believe that Jesus Christ came to earth in a real body. Such a person is a deceiver and an antichrist.” NLT

A couple of quick points:

Satan will take advantage of every opportunity to attack the divinity of Jesus Christ. The more people he deceives the fewer are in the Kingdom of God and the more he drags into the pit with him.
Christians have been attacked by cults, academia, governments, scientists, culture, liberals, fundamentalists, economists, and even religious people for over 2,000 years; why should our generation be exempt?
Christians have to get past the expectation that people with no relationship with God through Jesus Christ will ACT LIKE WE DO! It just will not happen.

Here is what the world looks for:

A way to heaven that depends on their actions and wisdom
A truth that they can control but is modifiable for each individual.
A life they are in full control of – “the masters of their destiny”

The Da Vinci Code is just another in a long line of deceptions hoping to cause people to lift themselves up to the same level as God; to somehow give us the ability to determine who God is and how He relates to us in human terms instead of Heavenly truths.

They try to apply different codes and interpretations to the world, the work of humans and even the Word of God in the hopes of proving that humans are the top of the evolutionary ladder.

They have never succeeded.

God is God. We are not.

All of the efforts to discredit or distort God, His Son and His Word over the centuries have all suffered the same fate – they blaze for a moment and then burn themselves out like dry grass in a forest fire.

Kabbalah had the “Red Sea Rising – The Bible Code Phenomena” that was based on mathematics
Tabloids often have headline stories about “Hidden Bible Codes Revealed” (June 8, 1999 SUN for example)
"The Bible Code" by Michael Drosnin was a new book based on old lies called “The Torah Codes”.
Since the invention and mass production of computers many people have tried to use mathematical formulas, numerology and bizarre word form connections to “create” hidden codes in the Word of God.

Man trying to reach God by our own logic and thinking.

The problem is that they never work. They will all eventually fall away because they have a faulty premise, are built on lies and are in direct opposition to the TRUTH OF THE WORD OF GOD!

The Word of God will remain long after Dan Brown’s book and movie are long forgotten……and it has sold a lot more copies!

Dan Brown may have sold 60 million copies but the Bible is now over 5 BILLION copies sold! You decide which is a best seller or more popular!

If you simply must have a “code” to place your faith in here are 3:

THE JESUS CODE: John 14:6-7 “Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” NLT

Jesus Christ is:

i. The ONLY way to the Father

ii. The ONLY truth that can change our hearts, our lives and our destiny

iii. The ONLY life that is real and eternal

THE LOVE OF GOD CODE: John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God did not send his Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.” NLT

God loves YOU!
God died for YOU!
God is asking YOU to believe in HIM not computer print outs and Hollywood films

THE GET RIGHT WITH GOD CODE: Romans 3:22 “We are made right in God's sight when we trust in Jesus Christ to take away our sins. And we all can be saved in this same way, no matter who we are or what we have done.” NLT

There is only ONE WAY to God – Jesus Christ
There is only ONE WAY to forgiveness – Jesus Christ
There is only ONE WAY to restoration – Jesus Christ

i. Truth is not changeable

ii. Truth is not debatable

iii. You may say that it is intolerant, exclusionary or

1. That is right

2. That is OK

3. If you want to debate this go to the Lord of all creation that decided it!

God will do things HIS WAY regardless of our misinformed or misguided ideals
At least it is available to everyone!

i. No matter who you are or where you can from or what you have done!

No decoder rings or hidden messages in pictures to try to figure out.

No puzzles included and no special wisdom required.

Consider the words of Paul as he wrote the young preacher Timothy:

1 Timothy 2:2-6 “Pray this way for kings and all others who are in authority, so that we can live in peace and quietness, in godliness and dignity. This is good and pleases God our Savior, for he wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For there is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people. He is the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone. This is the message that God gave to the world at the proper time.” NLT

God desires that everyone would understand truth and come to a true life saving faith in His Son Jesus Christ.

God is not going to hide truth from anyone, in fact He made sure that everything we needed to know was both written down for us in His Holy Word AND written on the tablets of our heart so that we could come to know Him even if we never saw a Bible. (Romans 1:19 – 20)

Nothing is hidden

Nothing is held back.

All is available.

Stop looking for codes and patterns that do not exist and start looking for God!
