LIFE

 

Genesis 2:7 “And the LORD God formed a man's body from the dust of the ground and breathed into it the breath of life. And the man became a living person.”  (NLT)

 

Life = “chay” (khah'-ee); alive; hence, raw (flesh); fresh (plant, water, year), strong; life (or living thing), whether literally or figuratively:

 

We were given a very special gift from God – LIFE.  Our basic life is our first gift of Grace from our Supreme Father.  He created us, He breathed His Special Spirit into us and we have a life that is far beyond any mere mammal.

 

We do have the same basic bodily functions as a dog, cow or moose.  WE must all breathe, eat, drink, sleep, etc.  This is our BASE LIFE.

 

That is where the similarities end.  Dogs, cows and moose’s are short two vital ingredients that we, and we alone we given.

 

  1. Our MENTAL LIFE.  We were given the ability to think and to reason beyond our survival instincts.  We have a superior intelligence that God gave us for the purpose of glorifying Him.
  2. Our SPIRIT LIFE.  This is our “God Module”.  God breathed into us His special Spirit.  Humans were made differently from the animals, plants and seas.  Notice the Genesis 2 text above, what did He breath life into?  A pile of dirt, nothing, this clay model is even referred to as “it”!  We were nothing until God made us something!  Then, and only then, did we have life!

 

There is another component to life that we have to realize if we are to be complete, our ETERNAL LIFE.  God has promised each one that He breathed life into everlasting life.  The question is not whether or not you will exist forever; rather the question is WHERE will you live forever?

 

Romans 6:21-23 “And what was the result? It was not good, since now you are ashamed of the things you used to do, things that end in eternal doom.  But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life.  For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”  (NLT)

 

I John 5:12 “So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have his Son does not have life.  (NLT)

 

Which life are you living in?  Eternal life with God or eternal living death without God; the choice is yours to make.
